Merry Christmas
from the Byrne family! We pray that the Christmas season and the coming year will be full of rejoicing and blessings for you and your loved ones. For our family, 2013-2014 is turning out to be a time full of graduations and career transitions. In April Andrea completed her Master's degree in Global Leadership from Fuller Seminary. She loved teaching music in Aguascalientes but after thought and prayer made the decision to move back to the U.S. this past summer. It is exciting to see how God has opened doors for her for her to both teach and play trumpet here in the Houston area. Andrea’s days are filled with teaching one-on-one trumpet lessons at nearby middle schools and playing trumpet as a member and part-time manager of the Houston Brass Band. This year Sara's former tennis coach at Clear Brook High School moved to a different coaching position and encouraged Sara to apply to be the new tennis coach. She has always wanted to try coaching tennis, so was excited to be offered the position. She’s done an amazing job juggling her coaching responsibilities and being a full-time math teacher. We’ve thoroughly enjoyed attending some of her matches and cheering for the team - just like old times. Sara's husband Eric will graduate from law school next spring. He is currently in the midst of job applications, interviews and career decisions and will soon be hitting the books even more than usual as he prepares to take the bar exam next summer. Laura will complete her medical residency program next July so she is also doing lots of interviews. Her passion has always been to help those who have limited access to medical care, so she is focusing her job search on organizations that work with the under-served. The grueling schedule of residency has been a challenge, so she plans to work part-time so that she can spend more time with her family. Laura's husband Jason has had a full year balancing his mission work (ServantsAsia.org), seminary studies, writing and caring for Mika (almost 4) and Luke (2). Of course “Grandma and Grandpa” also have lots of fun with the kids, with them living just three doors down from us! David's parents will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary in February; we are grateful for their example of love and commitment. Joyce's Mom plans to come to Friendswood for several months right after Christmas, so we look forward to having more time with her. We are thankful for your friendship and would love to hear from you! Blessings, |
