Pastor Ovidio Ipiña passed away the 10th of October 2007 Blue Island, IL He was born March 13th, 1940
He grew up in the village of "El Chile" in the state of Zacapa, Guatemala with his parents Neftali y Zoila Ipiña (Bloe Island, IL) and his brother Rigoberto (Blue Island, IL with wife Blanca).
He married Raquel Ipiña on April 3rd in 1961. His children are Sara Raquel Martínez (husband Azarmabeth Martínez de Hammond, IN), Sergio Manfredo Ipiña (wife Leida Ipiña of East Chicago, IN), Heyda Leticia Casasola (husband Rolando Casasola of Orland Park, IL), Arlene Elisabet Castillo (husband Omar Castillo of Orland Park, IL). In 1972 Ovidio and his wife together with their daughter Sara Raquel received the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior of his life and since then they have walked with the Lord as examples to all those that know them.
In Guatemala he served on the "Permanent Commission" (governing board) of the Yearly Meeting in Chiquimula and took evangelistic films to the villages of Gualán and to other states across Guatemala with a good response among the people who found God.
Ovidio Ipiña founded and pastured the Blue Island Friends Church for the last 25 years. He always desired to have a church property for the congregation of Friends and lately had been working hard to realize that vision for the church.
There are nine grandchildren: Caleb Martínez, Josué Martínez, Abdiel Martínez, Nahir Ipiña, Alexis Ipiña, Arielis Ipiña, Edna Sánchez, Vivian Sánchez, y Mayelin Castillo and one great granddaughter: Sara Maribel Martínez.
